What we thought

I’ve been a long-time fan of Birkenstocks for one very simple reason. As someone who overpronates, I find regular sandals and flip flips provide minimal, if any arch support which makes them a painful and unpractical choice for me.

The Birkenstock footbed, however, is anatomically shaped and provides the ideal amount of support, making them super comfortable and practical to wear, allowing me to walk as far as I want without discomfort.

I’ve owned 3 pairs of the classic cork soled sandals to date, but was tempted by the bright fluorescent colours of the new EVA range. I was unsure how they’d compare in terms of comfort, but for £30 I thought I’d take a chance and I’m so glad that I did.

Ordered direct from the Birkenstock website, I have regular to narrow feet and opted for the narrow fit in size 5.5/6 which fitted perfectly after I’d adjusted the straps to cinch them in further.

When they arrived within a few days of placing my order, the first things that struck me were the fact that are light as a feather and that they still have that similar, anatomical and supportive footbed of the far more expensive classic sandals.

I love the fact that you can wear them at the beach and around the pool without worrying about damaging the natural cork footbed, as these are made entirely out of EVA.

• Extremely lightweight, so great to pop in your luggage when going on holiday
• Can be worn with wet feet, unlike the classic cork sole sandals
• A huge array of styles and colours to choose from
• Really great value at £30
• Ideal for campsite showers
• Styles available for both men and women
• Supportive footbed which is particularly comfortable for overpronators

• None – and that’s why you need them in your life!

I found the comfort superb, and the fit was spot on and throughout the summer they have been my go-to sandal of choice. For such a low price I’m impressed by their quality and am going to purchase a second pair in turquoise ready to add to my collection for next summer.

If you’re yet to discover Birkenstocks, then the Arizona EVA beach sandal offers the best of both worlds. No special care is needed (the classic cork soles do require some upkeep to maintain their condition) paired with high levels of comfort which makes them a great introduction to Birkenstocks at a bargain price.
