TRAVEL | Last Minute Marrakech Adventure & Quad Biking In The Sahara
We usually love winter, because it means going on our annual snowboarding holiday, but this year, hitting the slopes wasn’t an option. After working all the way through Christmas and the new year, I needed some down time, so I headed online to see if I could find a mini break that might appeal.
Although I’ve been to Morocco before, finding somewhere to visit that’s hot in February, yet only a short flight away is no mean feat, and once again, Marrakech seemed to tick the right boxes. I found a great deal, and didn’t waste any time in booking it.

I’ve traveled overseas less over the last couple of years than I used to. When I started this blog I made a conscious decision to stop flying off all the time, in order to explore more of the UK. But when it came to finding sunshine in the middle of winter, that’s one requirement that couldn’t be fulfilled this close to home. The temperature in Marrakech stayed between 26 and 28 degrees every day; which is just about the perfect temperature as far as I’m concerned.

We chose Kenzi Club Agdal Medina, a big modern 5* hotel on the outskirts of Marrakech, offering an all-inclusive stay without breaking our modest budget. Although it’s not the kind of place we usually choose to stay in, preferring small and intimate, this time around it suited us well.
As workaholic of epic proportions (with the stress levels to prove it), and given we’d previously visited the main tourist sites and shopped in the souks, this time around we decided our short break was all about relaxation, with nothing more than lounging around, swimming and reading on our agenda.
The hotel grounds were very pretty and extremely well kept, and it was the perfect base from which to explore when we did venture out. I haven’t had time to read fiction in over a year, so having time to read not one, but two books whilst we were away was a rare treat. I swam, I drank cocktails, and I took photographs. Bliss!
Before we flew out, I downloaded an app from GPS My City which came in handy when we took a walk to see the Jardins De L’Agdal. We also ventured outside of the hotel complex on the second day, when we spent a morning quad biking in the desert, with the brilliant Dunes & Deserts.
We achieved exactly what we wanted from our break, and I’ve fallen in love with the country all over again. I’m looking forward to returning again, next time I need to seek relaxation in the sun.
