Following a pretty dramatic lifestyle overhaul, which amongst many other things, has seen me start running again and getting back out on hill walks, my ever-fluctuating body has once again changed, necessitating an update to my entire wardrobe.
As a dopamine dresser, my preferred colour palette is always bright and cute, and the Craghoppers Rosario jacket absolutely fits that brief in terms of looks, but how does this jacket perform out in the hills faced with all that the great British weather can throw at it?

What I thought
The best test yet for this jacket came at Easter on a weekend trip to the Lake District. After several days of blazing sunshine, of course, the day I’d chosen to do a solo walk just happened to be the moment the weather took a turn.
Driving rain and chilly winds on an exposed ridge provided the perfect opportunity to test both the wind, and waterproof credentials of the jacket, and it absolutely delivered. I always get quite warm during ascents, and the jacket did a great job at keeping me comfortable on the way up. Once on the exposed ridge of Scout Scar, I remained warm and dry.

One massive annoyance of mine is waterproof jackets that are cut short. Sometimes, even in wet weather it’s nice to find a rock or a bench to sit on, and I really don’t appreciate a wet bum! A slightly longer jacket offers that extra bit of protection, and I found the length of the jacket was excellent for a bit of bum coverage, without restricting movement.
So far so good in terms of a jacket that looks good and keeps me warm and dry, but what about those little extras like pockets, hood and adjustable features? Once again, top marks – there’s even a pocket big enough to hold an OS map and I really liked little styling details like the colour of the zip and light grey toggles.

Final say
The Craghoppers Rosario jacket ticks all of my boxes in terms of functionality and excellent wet weather performance and it looks gorgeous too, in beautiful light summery hues, resulting in a jacket that’s colourful without being too bright.
