Story time. About 4 years ago I bought a pair of Teva boots which I loved and barely took off. A year later sitting by a campfire, floating embers totally ruined those boots and I’ve mourned their loss ever since.

Dramatic I know, but when you’re as fanatical about footwear as me, feelings can get pretty obsessive.

When SOREL contacted me and I saw their new Kinetic Impact Sneaker Boots, I couldn’t wait to have a pair to call my own. Similar to the long-lost boots I loved, but praise be, even funkier looking with a chunky futuristic sole. I was of course, immediately obsessed.

You know when you’re expecting something to arrive and every time you hear a van or sliding door you meerkat at the window, popping your head up to try and see if it’s for you? I spent almost a week doing that every single day until – joy oh joy – they arrived.

Size

As I’ve purchased SOREL boots in the past (including the brilliant SOREL Explorer Joan boots), I’m familiar with some of their styles often running slightly small. Before choosing the size of these I studiously read reviews and saw that the consensus was to size up a little.

I have regular to slightly narrow feet and at a UK 6, I decided that given my SOREL Joan boots are a 6.5 a were a good fit, I’d opt for these in a 6.5 too.

I tried them on with normal socks and they felt comfortable but spacious. However, the extra space was welcome when I switched to my highly padded merino hiking socks, leaving the boots fitting perfectly.

Looks

I adore how these boots look. Anything that’s slightly chunky but still light and comfortable to wear is bound to catch my eye and these look equally good with my walking gear as they do worn casually with jeans.

Due to the light colour of these, I was a little concerned about how practical they’d be. Whilst I certainly wouldn’t choose these to go tramping through muddy fields in, their being waterproof as well as warm and cosy make them a great boot choice for wet weather.

The soles are about the cutest I’ve ever seen outside of Irregular Choice, and they are not only chunky but have a good grip too. I’ve even worn these in icy weather and remained upright, so they rank highly in both looks and functionality.

Women’s SOREL Kinetic Impact Puffy Sneaker Boo

I absolutely ADORE these boots and I’ve worn them constantly for the past couple of months. Although mine are white, and not a usual choice for me, they wipe clean easily and do a fantastic job of keeping me warm and dry.

The light colour still looks good after 3 months, though I’d definitely recommend these for casual and urban use. That said, on firm, dry ground, I’ve worn mine on impromptu woodland walks and found them wonderfully versatile.

If you want a pair of boots that provide the comfort of trainers but the practicality of boots and you want them to look different enough to fit an alternative aesthetic, these SOREL Kinetic Puffy Sneaker Boots are a must and as they are currently in the sale for just £87, now is a great time to grab a fantastic bargain!
