A historic, disused quarry has been transformed into a completely accessible glamping staycation holiday site in Yorkshire. Read on to find out more.

Forcett Grange

Wigwam® Holidays Forcett Grange was set to have its grand opening at the end of March 2020 with its range of six state-of-the-art, fully accessible timber cabins in a stunning rural location.

However, national lockdown guidelines prevented this taking place and the opening date was moved to Saturday 4th July.

Wigwam® Holidays Forcett Grange is also unique in that it includes accessible hot tubs within a completely step-free location for ease of access.

Mr Ed Gibbon, owner of this latest site to join the successful Wigwam® Franchise, has positioned the accessible Running Water Deluxe Wigwam® Cabins at Forcett Grange, near Richmond, North Yorkshire.

Ed said: “The delay with our opening has been unavoidable and has allowed us to ensure the site is stunning for all our guests.”

Wigwam® Holidays, which has a national network of over 80 sites across the British Isles, has recently launched its Booking and Health & Safety Guarantees, reassuring guests their glamping break is a safe as possible following the pressures of lockdown.

Mr Gibbon said: “We have been inspired by the Wigwam ® Holidays ethos and quality of cabin for some time and we liked the idea of the cabins being accessible. We then turned our thoughts to making the whole site ‘step free’ and enabled our hot tubs to be used by everyone, too.

“These spacious cabins will appeal to families of up to five people and with the accessible features, including kitchen area and bathroom, this will also appeal to families who would like to bring along different generations to have a rural, peaceful glamping break.

“Although we are appealing to families, our other target markets include hen and stag dos, couples, groups as well as families. The site is also targeted at those charitable organisations that are looking for accessible holidays within the UK. All cabins are also dog friendly.”

Wigwam® Holidays Forcett Grange is built on the site of a historic disused quarry, dating from between 1850 and 1875 and which once had its own railway line to take away the quarried materials. After extensive groundworks and investment on infrastructure, the site is a stunning rural location close to the County Durham border and within easy reach of the
A1(M).

The nearest towns are Richmond and Darlington, with the magnificent Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle also just a short drive away.
The majestic River Tees is nearby along with nearby access to the A66. Both the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Parks within a short driving distance.
