I’ve been raving about the Vango Blissful air mattress for months, and after my most recent camping trip, I’m finally able to bring you my verdict. Read on to find out what I think.

Thanks to lockdown it has taken me a while to get around to reviewing this as I think it’s only right to use a product a good few times before delivering a verdict, so I’m excited to finally be able to bring you my thoughts on it.
I ditched inflatable air mattresses several years ago for the simple reason that I was fed up of them deflating during the night. Since breaking my back a few years ago, I now need a good amount of support and I need it consistently, so regular air mattresses just don’t cut it.
When I first heard about the Vango Blissful, it promised to eliminate the issue of waking up feeling like a burrito filling wrapped in a partially deflated air mattress.
The bed features a Constant Comfort pump which is left plugged in and the unit monitors the air pressure, automatically reinflating if necessary. Genuis!
But how does it work in practice? Firstly, the pump is built-in. It’s not rechargeable and can only be used with the attached mains plug, which means you’ll need to camp with an EHU if you want to use this bed.
Considering it’s a double bed and it’s also double-height, it inflates really fast, in around 3 minutes and I really like the comfort selector which provides 3 different firmness options, so you can choose whichever firmness suits you best.
Every morning when I wake up, the bed feels just as firm as it did when I got into bed the night before.
When I used the air mattress at home, I must say I did notice the sound of the monitoring unit, but once I was camping, I couldn’t hear the sound of the pump at all. Left plugged in all night, every morning when I wake up, the bed feels just as firm as it did when I got into bed the night before.
The bed is a good size for two people – I’m used to a kingsize bed at home and hate small beds, but as far as air mattresses go, this is just big enough for us both.

I’ve given the Vango Blissful 4/5 stars as it loses out due to the fact that it’s mains operated and not all of us typically camp with an electric hookup. That said, for those that do camp with an EHU, this is a great quality bed and it works extremely well.
You’ll sleep comfortably on this bed and will wake up in the morning to find that it is still fully inflated and still just as comfortable.
It is a bit more expensive than other air mattresses, but the silent inflation function really does make up for it, making this a really good buy.
In the future, I’d love to see a rechargeable version of this bed. Tech-wise, I’m not sure if it’s possible, but if a rechargeable battery could be added, providing a version that can be used by all campers without the need for an EHU, that would be pretty cool!
