What did we think?
I have a confession to make. I have an obsession with Bluetooth speakers. I have them all over the house, and I have a couple of tiny ones that I take camping…when it comes to being able to draw a comparison, I’ve got plenty to compare the Braven 405 against, and on the basis of looks alone, it blows all of my other Bluetooth speakers away.
I’ve taken it camping, used it at home in the garden and last weekend we took it away with us again. It was Glastonbury weekend, and as usual we settled in front of ‘GlastonTelly’ to enjoy the likes of Royal Blood, Foo Fighters, Radiohead and Elbow. The accommodation we stayed in had a TV, but as usual with most flat screen telly’s, the sound wasn’t great. Using an aux in cable however, we hooked the Braven 405 up to the TV and it provided us with brilliant, headliner-worthy sound.
Pros and Cons

- We found it charged really quickly in just over 2 hours on mains power
- Amazing battery life
- Very simple to use
- At high volume the sound was little bit tinny, but only noticeable on certain songs
Final verdict
If you’re after a small portable Bluetooth speaker, the Braven 405 makes a truly excellent. With a vast array of colours to choose from, amazing battery life, fast charging time and great sound quality, it’s a big thumbs up from us!
3 years on and with heavy use, this is still an amazing speaker with brilliant battery life and great sound quality for something so small and at this price point.
