Heat Holders From The Sock Shop Review

We spent the weekend camping, and although it’s been beautiful, perfect Autumn weather, the air is crisp and wind is chilly even with the sunshine. With the evening temperature dropping down to 2 degrees though, night time in a tent, is cold.

We never camp with an electric hookup, so need to ensure we take the right camping gear and clothing with us whenever we’re camping in cold weather. Heat Holders from Sock Shop have been the stars of many a cold camping trip, and I’ve been wearing their tights and socks when camping, for the past year.

Their thick snuggly socks, with a tog rating of 2.3, are like wrapping little tiny duvets around your feet. They are seriously warm, and so are my tights which are fleece lined, making them ideal for chilly days and even better for cold nights.

When I received a new pair of socks (in pink, yay!) and a pair of black leggings, they arrived with perfect timing for our camping trip, so I took them with us to test them out. Whilst I did use a combination of methods to keep warm over the weekend, I can honestly say, I’ve never had a warmer, more comfortable nights sleep in my tent outside of summer.

I slept in my Heat Holder socks, and in my leggings too, with my regular pyjama bottoms over the top. I really can’t praise them enough for cold camping.

At a slightly over average height of 5.6″, frustratingly, tights and leggings are often too short for me, but both the Heat Holders tights and leggings are an excellent length, and come in sizes small through to extra large.

Our Verdict

Heat Holders are great quality and comfortable to wear – despite them being so thick, on a cold day you don’t get hot and sweaty. They offer a great, true to size fit and are excellent value for money, at £6 for the socks and just £8 for the leggings. For me, they are a cold weather camping must have.
