The Adventurer Women’s Waterproof Boots have a rugged, chunky look but once on they actually feel quite dainty, thanks to their incredibly light weight. I’ve been using the boots for several months now, and have walked miles in them.

A great challenge for any boot is when you expose them to adverse weather, and on a recent camping trip, it was pretty grim, wet and very muddy. The boots held up brilliantly, keeping me warm and dry all day long, and importantly for me (I’m prone to falling and slipping), the excellent grips kept me upright even on thick, slippery mud.

I have dodgy arches, so always use custom othotics inside my footwear, and I was pleased to find that my orthotics fitted well inside the boot, making them even more comfortable and supportive. The footbed however has quite a bouncy feel to it, and after wearing them in, the boots fitted well even with thick Merino socks.

What I liked

Anything I didn’t like?

I’m usually a size 6 dead on, but I found that the 6 was slightly snug around the toes, and it took quite a long time to break them in. Despite them being snug around the toes, I found them otherwise to provide quite a wide fit, which does lead to some movement of my foot when wearing these boots. My recommendation would be to try these on in-store to check you’re happy with the fit before buying.

The Verdict

The Mountain Warehouse Adventurer Women’s Waterproof Boots are ideal for rambling, hiking and general outdoors use and are extremely practical and hard-wearing. At a price of just £29.99, I think they’re an absolute bargain, and ideal for casual walkers who aren’t planning to clock up hundreds of miles.
