ZeroWater 2.8 Litre Water Filter Jug

I’ve lived at my current address for 9 years now and in that time I’ve never had a full glass of tap water. I’ve genuinely never lived anywhere where the tap water tastes so disgusting, and it’s not just me. My fiancé, daughter, family and friends all agree – it’s vile.

This means that to drink water, I’ve relied on bottled water, something I don’t like doing as I hate contributing to plastic waste and I’d already been considering buying a water filter jug for some time so when I was asked if I wanted to test a ZeroWater filter jug, I jumped at the chance!

Not only would I potentially be able to drink tap water again, but because the tap water here tastes so bad, it would provide a great test for how effective the filter was.

The verdict

ZeroWater reduces 99.6% of all total dissolved solids in drinking water, which means that trace metals, salts, pesticides and organic compounds are all reduced thanks to the patented 5 stage filter which claims to be much more effective than a conventional filter jug.

ZeroWater

The first time you use the jug, the filter needs to be screwed in from the bottom. Doing this creates a seal, ensuring only filtered water drips into the bottom collection reservoir of the jug, then it’s just a case of filling the top section with tap water and letting it filter through which takes a few minutes.

Does it work?

I really loved that the ZeroWater comes with a water purity gauge, so we did a comparison, taking a reading of our tap water before and after filtering.

The straight from the tap reading said 34 (which actually isn’t too bad apparently) but after filtering, the readout said 0. Result! Next came the taste test and the filtered water tasted amazing! I can honestly say that in the last week, I’ve drunk more water than I have done in the past month.

The 2.8 Litre jug is big, really big and doesn’t fit inside my standard size under counter fridge. This means we have to keep the jug on the side in the kitchen. I decant the water into a large flask that fits in the fridge, which means we have cold, filtered water with very little effort, finally! If you want something that will fit inside even a small fridge, you might want to choose the smaller 1.7 Litre ZeroWater.

Performance 5/5
Practicality 4.5/5
Value 4.5/5
Overall Rating 4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

I am over the moon with the performance of this filter jug. It performs so much better than I could have hoped, turning my revolting tap water into something that tastes amazing. Having done a taste test with Evian and ZeroWater filtered tap water, the tap water wins hands down.

The ZeroWater provides exceptional results, leaving water tasting fantastic

ZeroWater

I honestly never expected it to make such a huge difference to the taste and I’m certain I won’t ever go back to bottled water now. At £19.99 the replacement filters aren’t particularly cheap, (their life span depends on how hard the filter has to work), but I’d much rather spend money on a replacement filter than bottled water.

The ZeroWater provides exceptional results, leaving water tasting fantastic and as well as using it at home, we’re likely to take it away camping with us too. If your tap water tastes bad, then I really can’t recommend the ZeroWater enough.
