What we thought

Comfort is my number 1 priority with footwear and if it’s not comfortable straight out of the box, I’m not interested. That doesn’t mean I want to compromise on style though and whilst I’m normally found in trainers, they don’t go with every fit.

The Wendy boots from HeyDude have a casual vibe, without being as casual as trainers and they offer absolutely comfort from the first wear. They look great with my usual slim jeans and just like my trusty Nike AF1 trainers, even work with leggings.

I absolutely love the fact that you can just slip these on, but the slight compromise here is that the lacing is fixed, so if you find them a little on the big side, you can’t cinch them in around your foot by tightening the laces.

This leads me nicely on to the sizing. I’m usually a straight size 6 in pretty much every brand of footwear I’ve ever worn, but these do come up a little large, particularly if you have a foot that’s on the narrower side. As a result, I find the 6 quite big and need to wear the boots with thick socks and have added a heel grip to bring the size down a little.

Styling-wise, I LOVE these boots. As a footwear obsessive, I’m reaching for these as much as I’m reaching for my other current favourite footwear, and that says a lot! Although we’re not quite in camping season yet, I can see these being a camping go-to as they are super comfy and are so easy to slip on and off, making them practical and versatile.

I can’t believe I’ve left it until now to mention perhaps the best thing about these boots. They are feather-light. Seriously, when they arrived in the post I thought I’d been sent an empty box and even for someone prone to hyperbole, that’s really no exaggeration!

Final say

The HeyDude Wendy Boots are a great pair of casual boots offering high quality and excellent levels of comfort. Their light weight and ease of slipping on and off makes them hugely practical, whilst their funky, chunky looks mean they’re also an aesthetic win.
