The start of our little 4.8km walk
Despite relishing having some much needed down time in between Christmas and the New Year, I’m not one for sitting around all day so used the Christmas break to get out for a walk to Bickerton Hill in Cheshire.
We didn’t want anything major, and anticipated a couple of hours of easy walking and photograph taking to blow away the cobwebs. We chose The Sandstone Trail in Cheshire, about 45 minutes drive from home, and went for a circular route which advised a 2 to 2.5 hour completion time; taking us up Bickerton Hill and across the Sandstone Ridge. We didn’t walk fast and frequently stopped to take pictures, but we managed it in well under 2 hours.

The route was largely well marked, though we did have to check our GPS device several times to make sure we were still going the right way! The day was dull, but mild and dry and our walking boots are caked in an inch of mud; a sure sign of a good walk!
