GEAR | Make A Difference With Waterhaul Sustainable Sunglasses

I’ve been lucky enough to spend time diving in the Maldives, but it’s a country that is blighted by ghost nets. This is the term given to the discarded fishing nets that frequently ensnare sea life, particularly sea turtles. Needless to say, ghost nets present a real ongoing danger to all manner of marine life.

Seeing the work that organisations like the Olive Ridley Project do, as well as taking part in beach cleans, means anything that supports initiatives that remove debris from our oceans gets my vote.

Closer to home, Waterhaul recovers monofilament gill ghost nets from the waters around the coast of Cornwall and then recycle those nets into sunglasses. Clever or what?

My Harlyn Aqua sunglasses have a gorgeous colour that I love, and is a natural result of the 100% recycled Cornish monofilament gill netting they are made from and feature saltwater-resistant mineral glass lenses.

As well as being sustainable and recycled, the sunglasses offer full UV protection, have a lifetime warranty and come in the cutest cork glasses case.

Waterhaul recycled sunglasses review

So far mine have been to the Red Sea, on countless camping and glamping trips and are my go-to sunglasses. I love the style, the are super comfortable to wear and of course, knowing they are made from recycled ghost nets is the icing on the cake.
