Our verdict

We bought this heater earlier this year with the intention of doing some cold weather camping and made the decision to try camping with an EHU, something we’d never done before. Then the UK went into lockdown and our plans were scuppered, but we’re pleased to say we’ve still managed to get heaps of use out of the Kampa Diddy heater as we’ve camped in our garden 3 times so far during lockdown and on 2 of those occasions, it was pretty chilly at night.

As well as putting it to the test inside the tent, on a couple of particularly chilly days, instead of putting the heating on in the whole house, I’ve used the heater indoors to warm up the living room.

Kampa Diddy Portable Fan Heater Review

At just under £20 the heater seemed like good value, and when it arrived (I got mine from Amazon.co.uk) I was amazed at just how small it really is. I mean, there’s a clue in the name, but the unit really is diddy! That’s great news as our usual camping set up means the car and roof box are generally bursting, so space really is at a premium when it comes to transporting gear to and from the campsite, the diminutive size however, means it can easily be slotted into a spare space in the car.

As the heater is so small I honestly didn’t expect too much from it, but in use, it has performed brilliantly. For the bedroom compartment inside our tent, it did an excellent job of warming the space up, we only kept it on for about 30 minutes as that’s all it needed.

The unit is very simple to operate with 2 heat settings, though really, it didn’t feel like there was a lot of difference between the 2 settings. Noise wise, it’s pretty quiet and we barely noticed it was on.

One of the features I really like is that the housing remains cool to the touch regardless of how long you leave it on for. It also has an auto cut-off function, so if the unit gets knocked over it automatically cuts off.

Value 5/5
Overall Rating 5 out of 5 stars (5 / 5)

This is a brilliant little heater and for early spring camping, it made a big difference to our comfort during our garden campouts. For both camping and caravanning, and even occasional use around the home, I’d thoroughly recommend the Kampa Diddy tent warmer.
