WALKING | An Afternoon Walk Around Cholmondeley Castle Gardens
The Gothic architecture of Cholmondeley Castle
After a difficult week culminating in devastating family news, I sought solace in the grounds of Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire.
Sunday afternoon, bathed in sunlight, the grounds were a delight to photograph, bright and serene in stark contrast to my own grief. I’ve always been a strong believer in the healing power of nature, so heading outdoors at the first opportunity was a natural reaction for me.
There is wisdom in trees. We shared a moment.
Cholmondeley Castle is a stunning country house, built in the Gothic style, by William Turner in 1805. Set within beautiful grounds, including formal gardens a lake and a pond, the estate plays host to the annual Cholmondeley Power and Speed Festival, taking place this year on the 10th – 12th June.
With Snowdrops, Crocus, Daffodils and more already in full bloom, many of the trees were laden with buds. A reminder that we are all just part of an endless cycle.
