Designed primarily for triathletes, who need to get changed quickly and discretely during training and competitions, the Charlie McLeod Sports Cloak offers a practical solution for those taking part in outdoor activities, particularly open water swimming and board sports as the robe not only warms you up after being out on the water, but you can dried off and change discreetly whilst wearing it.

After open water swimming or kayaking sessions, I found the Sports Cloak made getting changed so much easier! It’s also really effective and drying me and keeping me warm after chillier swims.

This isn’t just useful for swimmers though. There have been countless times when I’ve been out walking and returned to my car soaking wet and covered in mud, but unable to do anything about it. Visitor centres and public loos aren’t always available, so It’s really useful for wet weather hikers and outdoor sports, as it makes hiding your modesty and getting changed beside the car a cinch.

Our Verdict

You wear the cloak like a regular coat, zip it up and pull your arms inside. I’m a size 14 and found the L-XL size cloak gave me enough space to take off my wet walking trousers, and put on a dry pair of tights and skirt before getting into the car to head home after a rainy Sunday afternoon walk.

As well as being perfect for walking and outdoors sports, I also think it’s ideal for camping too. Thanks to the thick and absorbent fleecey lining, you’ll be dry in no time at all, as you make your way out of the shower block and back to the privacy of your tent. It would also be useful for those with a tent too small to stand and get changed inside.

Mine will be accompanying me on future camping trips, particularly when I plan to go kayaking or swimming in open water, and I’ll make sure to pop it in the boot whenever we plan to go walking. It’s such a simple idea, and yet so clever and provides an effective changing solution for anyone who spends a lot of time in the outdoors.
