The Lowdown

Cledan Valley is a glamping site in mid-Wales which retains a wild feel but provides a range of comfortable accommodation and facilities. From bell tents down by the river to tipi’s and cosy but spacious yurts and a shepherds hut, there are plenty of glamping options to choose from. Everything is nicely spread out too providing just enough privacy which enhances the feeling of natural seclusion.

What did we think?

This was our first time staying in a yurt and we loved every second of it! We definitely felt much more snug than when we sleep in a bell tent, with the yurt retaining heat much better, thanks to the addition of the wood burning stove which made for relaxed and cosy evenings.

The valley that the glamping site is located within is stunning and very peaceful. The only sounds are of nature; from the cacophony of evening bird song to honking geese and neighing horses; it’s one of those rare places where the moment you arrive you instantly feel a sense of calm.

Facilities inside the Red Kite Yurt that we stayed in were superb. Despite it being just the 2 of us, It’s actually big enough to sleep a family of 5, containing a comfy double bed and a double bunkbed (capable of sleeping a further 3). As well as the wood burner inside, there are comfy chairs and a fabulous handy little kitchen area, making self-catering easy. With a double gas burning stove we found plenty of pots, pans, plates, cutlery etc. and cooking in the yurt was a convenient alternative to having to use the car in order to eat out.

Outside of the yurt there is plenty of seating, a firepit and even a barbecue. Sitting outside and watching the sun go down was a pleasure, and the sky is exceptionally dark here too, making star gazing a real treat.

The showers were hot, the facilities clean and for a small fee, there was a ready supply of firewood, which meant the yurt never felt cold.

We always like to get out and about when we stay somewhere to get a better feel for the area, so we did a bit of research before we arrived and identified Hafren Forest and it’s various waterfalls as somewhere we definitely wanted to visit, and we weren’t disappointed. You can read all about our walk in Hafren Forest here.

If you are looking for a relaxing break amidst beautiful scenery but don’t want to compromise on comfort, then Cledan Valley is the perfect choice. It’s rare to find a small glamping site like this that can effectively cater for a range of different needs, yet Cledan Valley with it’s romantic Honeymoon yurt is just as perfect for couples as it is for families wanting to spend quality time together (we recommend a stay in a towering tipi!).
