Fancy a romantic weekend break with a difference this year? How about a fun family weekend getaway? If you’re looking for relaxation, forget hotel city breaks, glamping is a great way to get closer to nature in true comfort during the colder winter months.

Whilst the camping moniker, might be pushing the truth in some cases, definitions aside, glamping is all about getting that little bit closer to nature whilst staying somewhere quirky and different.

Part of the joy of glamping are the rural locations and the sheer variety of the different types of accommodation you can stay in, so let’s get stuck in with some glamping breaks we think you’ll love.

Sure you’ve camped in a tent before, but how about a tent in a tree? The Red Kite Tree Tent is located in Powys, Mid Wales and is suspended in the trees beside a beautiful stream. 2. The Bird House Luxury Treehouse, Somerset

This place is really something special and oozes luxury. Located in woodland in the heart of Somerset the new Bird House treehouse is bursting with design features, and provides the perfect sanctuary with excellent self catering facilities. 4. Drybeck Farm Yurts, Cumbria

Ever stayed somewhere with an outdoor hot tub? Take it from me, a relaxing al fresco soak is a wonderful experience. The Yurts are located on a small working farm in Cumbria’s beautiful Eden Valley, so you’ll be spoilt for choice for scenic walks and things to do. Prices start from £20 per person per night.

5. Eve Glamping Den, Glastonbury

Eve is an adorable little pod with a covered veranda area, perfect for glamping whatever the weather and in the magical town of Glastonbury too. If you’ve never been before, we highly recommend a walk up to Glastonbury Tor and a visit into town. The den sleeps 2 and prices start at £140 for 2 nights.

6. The Dome Garden, Gloucestershire

Geodesic domes make for some seriously cool glamping accommodation, and the Dome Garden site includes 11 purpose build eco domes. Set in beautiful landscaped grounds, both the Sunday Times and National Geographic rate this as the best glamping site in the UK. Domes sleep up to 4 and prices start from £343 for 4 nights.

7. Loch Shin Wigwam Holidays, Northern Scotland

The wigwams are actually sturdy timber glamping pods, set on a working croft which breeds Cheviot Sheep. The stunning location makes star gazing a doddle (keep your eyes peeled for the Northern Lights at certain times of the year), and prepare to drink in the idyllic views.
