OUTDOORS | 12 Of The Best Bits From 2016 – A Year Of Adventure!
There’s something about this time of year that prompts me to pause and reflect on the previous Twelve months. Whilst I’m not usually one for retrospection, it allows me to remember and appreciate all the things we’ve been able to fit into the year.
Looking back, 2016 has faced us with difficulties and sadness, but on the whole, it’s been fantastic and mostly full of highs. After a difficult few years, being able to look back and feel a sense of happiness and joy rather than sorrow, is a wonderful thing.
We’ve had heaps of amazing opportunities come our way, but we’ve also planned plenty of our own adventues, spending most weekends out and about doing something. As I write this, 2016 is yet to reach a close, so I thought it would be nice to round up 12 highlights from the Camping with Style year.
January 2016
We kicked off the year with a walk up Mam Tor in the Peak District. It didn’t exactly go as planned but it was atmospheric and memorable – See More.

February 2016
In February a last minute mini-break to Morocco meant we got the opportunity to go quad biking in the Sahara desert – See More.

March 2016
At Easter we went on hastily arranged road trip to the Scottish highlands and climbed a mountain – See more.
April 2016
On my birthday, we went on a Peak District walk, up the Roaches and on towards the magical Lud’s Church – See more.

We spent a long weekend at Canvas & Clover indulging in a spot of eco glamping and walking in the Malvern Hills – See more.

November 2016
We went to Whitby Goth Weekend and stayed in a cottage with friends and drank Tequilla shots for breakfast, though I also got out to do a bit of walking – See more.

December 2016
The final walk of the year and one that had been on our list for ages, Dovedale, Ilam & Bunster Hill (where I found no buns and was slighty disappointed), however our stay at Hoe Grange definitely made up for the lack of buns! – See more.

To all of our friends, family and supporters, we’d like to say a huge thank you, and wish you all a fantastic, fun-filled and happy New Year.

WOW!! That is a year to shout about! Tequila for breakfast? ACE!
Ha ha 🙂 Not my proudest moment, but it was a lot of fun – I’ve not done that kind of thing in years!
What a super adventure-packed year! So many fantastic things you’ve done! I’d love to go quad biking in Morocco – I bet that was just amazing! Wishing you all the best for a fantastic, fun-filled 2017 🙂
Thanks so much! Yes it was great fun – I’ve never done that before and it was a great way to see some of the desert. I’d definitely recommend it. I hope you have a great year too x
Quad biking in the Sahara Desert? YES PLEASE! You’ve had a brilliant 2016, it’s been great discovering your blog and reading about all your adventures. Here’s to an even more fun 2017 too 🙂 🙂
Aw thank you! It was such good fun and we arranged everything right at the last minute and just went with it – I usually plan things in the most minute detail for months in advance. It was liberating!
Sounds like an awesome, and very active, year! Can’t wait to hear what you get up to in 2017.
Thank you! And well done on your good news today – go you!! 😀
A good mix of activities there! Here’s to more in 2017 🙂
What shoes are you wearing in the kayak? they look like they’re entirely made of string/elastic..?
A few months we did so many things it was hard to decide which one to feature and which we should leave out! Thanks, I hope your year is fun filled too!
They are KEEN Uneek and you’re right, they are made with a piece of continuously woven elastic; I love them to bits! There are more pics and further information on them here: http://www.campingwithstyle.co.uk/keen-uneek-footwear-review/
What a great year – hope 2017 is as adventure filled!
Thank you. I hope your year is great too! 🙂
